“Let Your Dreams Blossom” Hand Embroidery Project.

Updated: Sep 26, 2023

Let's welcome in the spring with this lovely hand embroidery piece. This is a fun project that is perfect for home decor. You will learn several different stitches that you can use on so many different things such as clothing, cushions and any fabric project you want to give a personal touch too.

You will need: • Embroidery threads in several colours • Embroidery Hoop • Embroidery needles • Dark blue fabric 9”x9” • Felt • Patterns • Water erasable pen or tailor chalk • Scissors • Lace trim • Glue gun

Step 1 - For a 7” hoop cut fabric to approximately 9”x9”

Step 2 - Print out the pattern and trace on to the centre of your fabric with a water erasable pen or tailor chalk.

Tip - Tailor chalk will be more visible on dark fabric. Then put your fabric in to the hoop, ensure that it is taught.

Step 3 - Stitch your words using a back stitch for the “Let Your Dreams” and a Satin stitch for the “Blossom”.

I have used full strands (6) in white. For all of the stitches in this project we will use full strands.

Tip - If you would like a more dainty look to your project use less strands.

Step 4 - I have started with the Woven wheel stitch for my main focus flowers. I decided to change the colour of each one but you could keep them all the same.

Step 5 -

To make the border use a stem stitch in green on the border line you drew. I decided I wanted to add a darker shade of green to the border, I did this by adding a wrapped stitch to my stem stitch.

Step 6 - Use the water erasable pen to draw some leaves that come off from the flowers.

Step 7 - Stitch the leaves using a fishbone stitch in green. To add some shading use a darker shade of green embroidery thread and stitch over a couple of stitches in the middle of the leaves.

Step 8 - Now add some small daisies scattered around the other flowers. To make the daisy use the lazy daisy stitch.

Then use a french knot in the centre of the flower.

Step 9 - To add some small blossoming flowers buds, we will use a granitos stitch. I have posi- tioned them by some of the woven wheel flowers.

To add the green to the flower bud, do a granitos stitch on each side, then to join it to the border use a stem stitch.

Step 10 - Remove your piece from the hoop and use a damp sponge to remove the water erasable pen marks and leave to dry.

Step 11 - Before you put the piece back in to the hoop, trace around the hoop on to some felt and cut out, this will cover the back of your work. Now put your piece back in to the hoop and ensure that it is taught.

Step 12 - Trim off the over hanging fabric so that there is enough to adhere this to the inner hoop.

Step 13 - Use a glue gun to adhere the felt circle to the back of the piece.

Hang using some lace trim.
